Prices vary accourding to your needs. MonkeyBrains is very competitively priced. Prices for a 1U server with 1Mbps run about $150 per month. Your rate may be more or less depending on the amount of sys admin help you need and how many months in advance you are willing to pay.

The colocation space is in a data center in San Francicso, not far from the Candlestick ballpark.

MonkeyBrains will keep it's prices as low as possible for you.
Bandwidth is measured in either GigaBytes per month or Megabits per second, whatever you prefer. The starting rate for low bandwidth customers is $1/GB/month or $110/Mbps per month.

SERVER CONSTRUCTION
If you don't have a server, but you wish to co-locate one, MonkeyBrains will buy the parts and build it for you. Prices vary depending on how much it costs us to build the computer. We install our favorite varieties of UNIX: FreeBSD or Linux.

 

What is Colocation?
Colocation means that your server will be plugged directly into the MonkeyBrains network. Your computer will live at a MonkeyBrains facility - not at your business or house.

Why would I Colocate a machine?
If you want your own machine on the Internet and desire full control of it, this is your most cost-effective way to do it.

People are always asking for colocation quotes. Here is a generic quote MonkeyBrains sent out in April 2006 (prices vary over time). 1/4 rack is kinda bogus, but people always ask about that. Servers are small these days. The question is 'How many amps can I use?' Amps below are usable -- when shopping around, be aware that some ISPs offer you a 10 amp circuit, but only allow you to use 8 amps of it (electrical code states that you can only run a circuit at 80% of what it is rated at).

Our hosting includes multi-homed service (we have two upstreams ISPs) and remote re-bootable outlets for all your machines. There are no cross connect fees to the MonkeyBrains network. Bandwidth prices decrease in 5 Mbps internals above 20. Call for details! 415.974.1313 -- ask for Frank (we all pretend we are called 'Frank' for cold call quotes!) 

Hosting:
 $575 - 1/4 rack with 8 amps (6 machines + 1 gigE switch)
 $400 - 1/4 rack with 5 amps (about 4 servers + 1 small switch)
 $150 - 1 server with SNMP monitoring
 (above all include 1Mbps)

Bandwidth:
 1 Mbps commit at $100 Mbps (overage at same rate)
 5 Mbps commit at $90 Mbps (overage at same rate)
 10 Mbps commit at $85 Mbps (overage at same rate)
 20 Mbps commit at $80 Mbps (overage at same rate)

 10 Mbps port capped $550  (above quotes are all on 100 Mbps ports)
