Warehouse Noise Scene:
Schematic
Commode Minstrels featuring
GRUX
Neighborhood Bass Coalition
@ 58 Tehama Street
February 1999
Hazmat code enforced as low
frequencies transmitted through a small room. Onlookers did not understand
the continuous bombardment of their cerebral cortex and thereby were silent
as the members of Schematic sent subliminal messages of self-help through
their tiny ear bones. The hammers, anvils and stirrups stirred with abrupt
resonance and a group of bassheads emerged from an elevator compartment.
Beer was cheap. A sound effects guy played the theremin and a million other
electronic noise emitters from a fancy ironing board stand. The Commode
Minstrels brought their cartoon world into focus with the use of cardboard
and pictures of distorted bunnies painted by Gux. The drummer in their
band likes to hit broken cymbals and hub caps. Head gear required. No casualties
were documented.
