Here are some tips for tuning in to JavaScript:
For Netscape 2.x browsers
If you have Netscape 2.x and you would like to make sure that Java and JavaScript are turned on, click on the Options
menu in the Title bar and drag down to the Security Preferences. A tabbed window will appear. Click on the General ta
b and make sure the Disable Java and Disable JavaScript checkboxes are NOT checked. Then click the OK bu
tton and "reload". In general, Netscape 2.x users should consider upgrading to Netscape 3.x.
For Netscape 3.x browsers
If you have Netscape 3.x, click on the Options menu in the Title bar and drag down to the Network Preferences.
When the tabbed prefrences window appears click on the Languages tab and make sure that the Enable Java and Enable
JavaScript checkboxes ARE checked. Then click the OK button and "reload".
For Netscape 4.x browsers
Netscape 4.x browser users need to click on the Edit menu in the Title bar and drag down to the Prefrences sel
ection. When the dialog opens, click under the Category window on the Advanced listing. The right side of the dialog s
hould change to reflect the Advanced Preferences. At the very top, there is a list of six check boxes. Make sure the second (Enable
Java) and third (Enable JavaScript) ARE checked. Then click the OK button and "reload".
For Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0
MSIE 3.0 comes with JavaScript enabled. To enable Java click on the View menu in the Title bar and select Options
. A tabbed dialog should appear. Select the Security tab. At the bottom of the window is a section named Active Content.
Check the bottom check box labeled Enable Java Programs. Then click on Advanced and at the bottom check the check box labeled
Enable Java JIT compiler. Then click the OK button and "reload". MSIE 3 users should consider upgrading to the MSIE
4 browser.
For Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0
MSIE 4.0 comes with JavaScript enabled. In IE 4.0.1 you need to open the prefrences dialog, select Web Content in the pref
rences dialog scroll list, set the checkmark for "enable scripting" under Active content heading. Then select Java in the prefrences
dialog scroll list and then set the checkmark for the "Enable Java" checkbox. Then click the OK button and "reload" the pag
e.
