Probably just use software update from system preferences.
I haven't found my Mac disk to be very slow, and journaling FS
+isn't actually that much slower if done right. It is alot less succeptable
+to corruption, otoh.
*cough*
(I like my Ti Book too.)
yeah they are pimp
i like my tibook and powermac. it's all i use.
i need to get my shit in gear
and order my powermac and cinema
heh
Well, I wanted a powermac, but I youknow... It's PowerMac taste on
+an iMac budget :-)

lets make the already slow disk slower
:p
Cool... I smell an upgrade in my very near future.

anyone know a contact for gblx.net (Global Crossings)?
one of their routers seem to be blocking me...

global crossing customer service in any form sucks dick

fark!
I wouldn't know... I've yet to see Global Crossing provide
+anything I would call customer service :-(
I seem to have this recurring problem....
I can't ping/traceroute/tcp from a new Class C.
If I bind the machines to IPs from another Class C, everything works fine.
Has anyone had this problem before?
(I get blocked from a variety of ISPs)
I was told that my new Class C is 'new':
69/8 allocated to ARIN (AUG 2002).
are there router lists that are blocking non allocated IP spaces, or what???
+(signed, Confused)
I don't think you really have enough clue to understand this
But yes, there are "bogon lists" that block announcements, and
+sometimes packets, from networks that really shouldn't exist.
69/8 used to be a space that shouldn't exist on the public Internet
Thank you, I know I don't have a clue and appreciate your help.
i suggest you hire me at $150/hour to analyze your situation,
+explain it to you, and offer a solution
That changed recently, and not all networks have updated their
+"bogon lists". You should probably traceroute and complain to the place
+where your packets stop.
Your problem could either be them dropping BGP announcements, or the
+actual packets. You might need to talk to someone pretty clued at the
+offending network before you can get anything useful done. :-(
If you get !H back, then that's true. However, if you just get
+*'s, then it's probably the next router you need to complain to.
... should I complain to me carrier, or is this something I should take up
+with glbx, sprintlink, etc?
'*'
(Above applies for tracing TO your new class C)
here are my notes, if you care to see traceroutes:
http://www.monkeybrains.net/mandy.html
No, we don't need to see
If you're tracing FROM, then it's almost certainly the next
+router, and you're almost certainly going to see *'s instead of !H.]
s/]//
ok, So if hope 10 is all * * * but tracing from another IP it works, I
+should contact noc@hop10-ip... ?
s/hope/hop/
None of the monkeybrains traceroutes seem to relate to 69/8.
my gw ( is 69.1.75.1 ...)
*** boii has changed the topic on channel #nanog to Thank you, I know
+I don't have a clue and appreciate your help.
That is irrelevant. Only the final destination IP matters for
+routing.
oh... the failed traceroutes are from various 69.1.75.xxx ips. I don;t use
+the '-s src_ip' cause, the default IP is in my main Class C.

Interestingly, sprint (who has traditionally been one of the most agressive bogon filters

hm, is there a way to "flash" seeprom on non-cisco gbic to make cisco hardware accept it?
Yes, I just emailed noc@sprintlink.net ...
email trouble tickets are much easier to ignore
they're the preferred method
What works better, distributed ICMP attack?
*** [eX] is now known as [eXGone]
Interesting... Most of SPRINT's network works, but their customer interface router to
+uecomm is where it breaks.
Telephone is sometimes effective, but usually requires a direct customer relationship.
Public embarassment on IRC sometimes leads to help, but is rare.
ok... I'll try getting on hold with gblx...
That probably won't help. GBLX has no control over the problem.
? they rent hardware form someone else?
heh
from
They are routing your packets correctly. It is hops outside of GBLX that have the broken
+bogon filters. It's after you leave their network that you run into trouble.
(PointClickConsulting router is probably controlled by PointClickConsulting, for
+example).

although the plan is to escape the misery of christmas.
i.e. if people now allow 70/8, we won't have a problem in 6 months. seeing that
