Using Search engines
The Internet is a sea of information; however, byte-fishers find out quickly that the sea -- just as our ocean -- is barren in the middle and Data Smog clouds the shores. [Cheesey metaphor; nevertheless, DataSmog has some information glut rantings to feed your gut.]
There are two basic ways to find the information you are looking for: keyword or tree. The Keyword method requires a unique word or phrase to search for (eg Snorks or Data Smog by Shenk [click links to try searching] ). The tree method invovles choosing topics, subtopics, and more subtopics until you find what you are looking for. This method is better if you don't really know what you want.

Adding your site to search engines
Feeding a web spider your site is easy. Once you do this, other Internet surfers may find your site by searching for it. Every search engine has a link for adding your URL. This is the free and easy method for getting noticed. You can go to these search engines one-by-one, or use an "auto-submitter":
Here are the individual search engines you may submit to one-by-one:
Search Google
Google is my favorite search site. I used to like 'hotbot', but they sold out to lycos. Thanks, Rafael Nunez for showing me google.com!
