If your speed test over Wi-Fi differs greatly your Monkeybrains connection directly out of your POE or cable, bypassing your internal network, and gotten good speeds, your wireless router is likely the source of your connection problems.

If you have a dual-band router, set up a dedicated 5Ghz Wi-Fi. Connect to your router via Wi-Fi or ethernet, and log into it on a web browser (the web address will be on a sticker on the router or in your router's manual). In the wireless section of your router's settings, specify different names for your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wi-Fi networks. Then connect to the 5Ghz Wi-Fi for improved performance.

Choose a different wireless channel for your router. Your router may be broadcasting on a channel with lots of other Wi-Fi signals in the area. Wifi Analyzer is a free app for iPhone and Android that automatically looks for the best channels to broadcast on. Once you've found a good channel, follow your router's manual for instructions on logging in and changing the Wi-Fi channel.

Monkeybrains recommends spending $100 as the absolute minimum for your home router. Like motor oil a little investment now will save you a lot of headache in the long run. Think of this way: $120/ 5 year lifespan = $2/mo , $180/ 5 year lifespan = $3/mo, and consumer routers more than $200 have diminishing returns.
